Your Vehicle Summer Maintenance Checklist

Summer may be halfway over, but that doesn’t mean that it is too late for a summer tune-up for your vehicle. Especially if you are planning to hit the road for the Fourth of July weekend. At Automobile Diagnostics, we want our customers to be able to enjoy a summer free of vehicle trouble or breakdowns. And that starts with summer auto maintenance.

Summer Vehicle Maintenance

No matter what time of year it is, you should always strive to keep your vehicle maintained. But during the summer months, there are a few things that are absolutely critical to include on your checklist. Oil changes, brake service, radiator inspections, and vehicle A/C service are a few of them.

Summer Oil Changes

If there is one thing you should never put off, it is an oil change. When you allow dirty or old oil to run through your engine, you are basically asking for engine trouble or failure. Instead of putting it off, mark your calendar every 3 months or 3,000 miles so you don’t forget to schedule your service.

Brake Service

You could be traveling 3 miles or 300 miles, but your braking system will always be one of the most important components of your vehicle in terms of safety and handling. We are willing to bet that you already know the signs of brake trouble, grinding, squealing, burning, or a soft pedal. But why even allow your brakes to get to that point?

Instead, we recommend having your brakes serviced and inspected on a regular basis. What does that include? A solid brake service schedule should include replacing your pads, maintaining your rotors, and inspecting your brake fluid.

Keeping your braking system healthy will help you avoid dangerous collisions or other accidents.

Radiator and Cooling System Inspection

As much as you love feeling cool and comfortable in your car, there is another temperature that is even more important, the temperature under the hood. When your engine runs too hot you run the risk of major damage and overheating.

Your radiator and cooling system are responsible for keeping your engine running at the proper temperature. Even if you haven’t seen any signs of overheating, you should have your cooling system inspected at your next service.

A/C System Service

You may not immediately notice when your vehicle is overdue for an oil change or it is time for brake service, but you will always notice when your car’s A/C system is on the fritz. Especially as the summer temperatures continue to climb.  The good news is that an A/C recharge may be all you need to cool back down.

For all your summer maintenance needs, you can count on the team at Automobile Diagnostics to be in your corner. Give us a call today for more information or to schedule an appointment.
